Shahanshah, or "king of kings", was a Persian title adopted by Alexander the Great after his conquest of the Achaemenid Empire.

Contemporary accounts record that Alexander embraced a variety of luxuries associated with Eastern kingship following his conquests, including the voracious use of perfume and incense, both in his daily life and as diplomatic gifts. His campaigns in Asia also opened up trade routes for exotic aromatics, especially musks, woods, and roses, leading to an olfactory revolution in the West.

THE PROFILE

A basket of roses! First, an Ispartali red absolute brings a sweet Turkish delight character. Minutes later, an Azerbaijani white otto peaks it's head with watery lemon & honey notes, followed by a hybrid purple bourbon absolute from Northern India- dark, fruity, dusky plum skin, while also green and without sweetness. A leathery castoreum tincture pairs with the roses to help create an illusion of waxy rose petals, and lastly, a tiny sprinkling of a very special wild kyara, distilled from a single 200 year old tree, aged for a further 45 years.
